Michał Basista

Born on 30 September 2004, a student of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków. For a decade, he has been tutored by Milena Kędra, while also honing his talents with Andrzej Jasiński, Janusz Olejniczak, Nikolai Demidenko, Marc Laforêt, Kevin Kenner and Ewa Pobłocka. He has been a semi-finalist in the Borderland Chopin International Piano Competition, 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and ‘Artur Rubinstein in memoriam’ International Competition for Young Pianists. He has given recitals at the NOSPR in Katowice, the Royal Castle in Warsaw and Wawel Castle in Kraków, and performed with philharmonic orchestras in Žilina (Slovakia) and Kraków, appearing twice with the Lviv Chamber Orchestra. He has received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the National Children’s Fund and the Rotary Club.
