Results of the Audience Award poll of the 19th Chopin Competition

We are pleased to announce the results of the Audience Award poll for the 19th Chopin Piano Competition. You voted from among 11 finalists between October 18th and 20th.

The winner – with 19,961 votes – is Piotr Alexewicz, a 25-year-old from Wrocław, ranked fifth by the Competition jury. He developed his skills under the guidance of Paweł Zawadzki, Konstantin Scherbakov, and Nikolai Demidenko, among others. Second place went to Malaysian Vincent Ong (11,547 votes), and third place was taken by Chinese pianist Tianyao Lyu, who received 8,224 votes.

    Requiem for piano solo on the anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s death

    Chopin died on October 17, 1849, and was buried less than two weeks later, on October 30, at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery. The funeral mass was celebrated at the La Madeleine Church in Paris, and its musical setting consisted primarily of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.

    Chopin in the Parliament

    We are delighted to announce that as part of the series of events entitled Chopin in the Parliament (Chopin w Sejmie) an autograph of Fryderyk Chopin's song Poseł (Member of parliament) from the collection of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute will be on display. The manuscript will be presented from October 9 to 16.
