Results of the Audience Award poll of the 19th Chopin Competition

We are pleased to announce the results of the Audience Award poll for the 19th Chopin Piano Competition. You voted from among 11 finalists between October 18th and 20th.

The winner – with 19,961 votes – is Piotr Alexewicz, a 25-year-old from Wrocław, ranked fifth by the Competition jury. He developed his skills under the guidance of Paweł Zawadzki, Konstantin Scherbakov, and Nikolai Demidenko, among others. Second place went to Malaysian Vincent Ong (11,547 votes), and third place was taken by Chinese pianist Tianyao Lyu, who received 8,224 votes.

    Monday was a day without auditions, and music bloggers and the media were engaged in a discussion about the list of 20 pianists who qualified for the third stage and those who did not advance to it.
