The 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition

The competition has three stages. The first two stages are solo recitals, in the final stage the pianists will perform a piano concert selected from among those indicated in the regulations, accompanied by the orchestra. A detailed program and regulations is available here.

The winners of the first two prizes may qualify to participate in the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition by passing the Qualification and Elimination Committee, in accordance with § III/2b of the MKPiFCh Regulations. The winner of the third prize may qualify to participate in the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition bypassing the Qualification Committee, in accordance with § III/2a of the MKPiFCh Regulations. In addition, the winners will be included in the concert and promotion program of The Fryderyk Chopin Institute.

    Experts in Waltz

    In 2024, a manuscript of a Waltz in A minor for piano, comprising only 24 bars and apparently notated by Chopin, was found in the music collection of The Morgan Library and Museum in New York. The discovery gained worldwide attention and generated considerable controversy about its authenticity.
