Today we will know the winner of 19th Chopin Competition

Late tonight, the winner and other prize winners of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition will be announced. The results will traditionally be announced on the steps of the Warsaw Philharmonic and will be broadcast on the Fryderyk Chopin Institute’s YouTube channel and on the Chopincompetition.pl website.

Eighty-four pianists participated in the 19th edition of the Competition, with 11 reaching the finals (in alphabetical order): Piotr Alexewicz, Kevin Chen, David Khrikuli, Shiori Kuwahara, Tianyou Li, Eric Lu, Tianyao Lyu, Vincent Ong, Miyu Shindo, Zitong Wang and William Yang.

The seventeen-person jury is chaired by Garrick Ohlsson.

    Requiem for piano solo on the anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s death

    Chopin died on October 17, 1849, and was buried less than two weeks later, on October 30, at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery. The funeral mass was celebrated at the La Madeleine Church in Paris, and its musical setting consisted primarily of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.

    The collection of accessories promoting the 19th Chopin Competition is available for sale online and at stationary locations – in museum stores in Warsaw and Żelazowa Wola, at Chopin Airport and at the Warsaw Philharmonic, during the Preliminaries.
