A prize-winner of the 10th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1980), where she was also awarded the mazurka prize. She studied at the Gdańsk State College of Music with Zbigniew Śliwiński and Jerzy Sulikowski (diploma with distinction, 1981), before postgraduate studies in Hamburg with Conrad Hansen. In 1977 she won the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli and two years later the Gold Medal in the International Young Laureates Festival in Bordeaux. She has given concerts in almost all European countries, as well as in both Americas, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Australia. Her discography contains more than 50 albums, covering solo, chamber and concert repertoire from the Baroque to the present day, recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Pony Canyon, Victor JVC, Conifer Records, CD Accord, BeArTon and the NIFC. She is also an esteemed pedagogue. For 25 years, she taught piano at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. She has given numerous masterclasses in Canada, the US, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, China, Ireland, Belgium, Norway, Germany and elsewhere. She has served on the juries of national and international piano competitions, including the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005, 2015 and 2021, the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw in 2018 and 2023, and also the Chopin Competition in Miami and the international piano competitions in Hamamatsu and Ettlingen. In August 2021, her first book, Forte-piano, was published by słowo/obraz terytoria. She has also hosted programmes on Polish Radio 2 devoted to Bach.
