Awards ceremony of the 19th Chopin Competition

Today, October 21st, at 8:00 PM, Teatr Wielki – National Opera in Warsaw will host the awards ceremony for the laureates of the 19th Chopin Piano Competition, along with a concert of awarded pianists. The first to perform will be the two winners of special prizes who did not make it to the final stage, then laureates will perform in order from sixth to first place.

Adam Kałduński will interpret the Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1, Yehuda Prokopowicz – two mazurkas Op. 17. William Yang will play the Nocturne in B major, Op. 62, No. 1, Piotr Alexewicz – the Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 45, Vincent Ong – the Nocturne in E major, Op. 62, No. 2, Shiori Kuwahara – the Scherzo in C-sharp minor, Op. 39, Tianyao Lyu – the Barcarolle in F-sharp major, Op. 60, Zitong Wang – the Variations in B-flat major, Op. 12, and Kevin Chen – six preludes (Nos. 7 to 12) from Op. 28. The evening will conclude with an appearance of the winner of the Competition, Eric Lu, who, together with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Andrzej Boreyko, will perform the Concerto in F minor, Op. 21.

The entire ceremony will be broadcast live online on the Fryderyk Chopin Institute’s YouTube channel and the Chopincompetition.pl website.

    Laureates of the 19th Chopin Competition Tour: Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Katowice, and Warsaw

    Eric Lu, who recently performed in South Korea, begins his China tour on Friday, November 28th. He will give the first recital in Shanghai – at the impressive, modern home of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the country’s oldest orchestral ensemble, whose origins date back to the 1890s.
