‘CHOPIN, CHOPIN!’ now in cinemas

10/10/2025

Today, on 10 October, the film “CHOPIN, CHOPIN!,” a blockbuster production presenting a contemporary portrait of Fryderyk Chopin, is being released in Polish cinemas. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute participated in its creation, providing the filmmakers with access to source materials, consulting on musical issues in the script, analysing the selection of Chopin's works for the soundtrack, and above all, engaging Tomasz Ritter as the creator of Chopin’s improvisations and performer of the works that the film's titular character, played by Eryk Kulm, performed on set.

You can learn about how the soundtrack for the film ‘CHOPIN, CHOPIN!’ was created by following this link.

We tried to support the film with full respect for the filmmakers' artistic freedom, and found sensitive and open partners  in the director, Michał Kwieciński, and the screenwriter, Bartosz Janiszewski.
The resulting film was made on a grand scale. Eryk Kulm's performance is memorable, and the work he put into mastering fragments of Chopin's works made it possible to create an evocative portrait of the virtuoso and piano genius – thanks in no small part to Tomasz Ritter, who convincingly complemented the picture with his musical interpretations. The meticulously prepared set featured period instruments, which were selected with the advice and assistance of the Chopin Institute.
The film “CHOPIN, CHOPIN!” allows viewers to immerse themselves in the Romantic era and look at those times from the inside, inviting them to get caught up in the whirlwind of Fryderyk Chopin's social life.

We invite you to the cinemas and hope that the language of film will appeal to a wide audience, which, encouraged, will make its way to the National Philharmonic and the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw.
