Eric Lu, winner of the 19th Chopin Competition, spent December on tour in Asia. On December 3rd, he performed at Victoria Hall in Singapore. After the recital, The Straits Times wrote:
‘… Eric Lu is an artist of great tonal finesse and expressive patience... This all-Chopin concert, presented by Altenburg Arts, was quite simply one of the most eloquent, absorbing solo recitals in recent memory. As a pianist, the 27-year-old epitomises the idea of art as emotion recollected in tranquillity. Hearing Lu work his subtle magic over two hours of Chopin was a deeply satisfying experience.’
‘… one could immediately sense the colours and shadings he strived for in its slow but gradual build-up, from simmering underlying tension to a final release of pent-up passion’ – a critic from Bachtrack.com shared this admiration.
Lu’s subsequent performances took place in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan, and everywhere the reviewers praised the maturity and beauty of the sound produced by the young master on the instrument.
On January 18th, the pianist begins a two-week tour in Japan with the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
