Polish participants of the Chopin Competition in the ‘Chopin Effect’

15/11/2025

The ‘Chopin Effect’ program is one of the largest undertakings accompanying the 19th Chopin Competition – over three hundred educational concerts are organized in small towns across Poland, as well as recitals and concerts by Polish participants of the Competition.

Since the beginning of November, young Chopinists have bee listened to by residents of Częstochowa (Piotr Pawlak with the {oh!} Orchestra and Martyna Pastuszka), Krasiczyn (Bartłomiej Kokot), and Legnica (Tomasz Marut and Zuzanna Sejbuk).

This coming Tuesday and Wednesday – November 18 and 19 – four more concerts will take place: first, Andrzej Wierciński and Mateusz Dubiel will perform at the Sudecka Philharmonic in Wałbrzych and Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała, respectively. The following day, Andrzej Wierciński will come to the Chamber Philharmonic in Łoża, and Mateusz Krzyżowski will give a recital at the Music School in Wiązów. Both the latter and Andrzej Wierciński had already gained experience in the Competition, having participated in its previous editions. For Mateusz Dubiel, the 2025 edition was his debut at the event. The first-place winner of the National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, in the first stage attracted the attention of reviewers with a particularly refined performance of the Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 55, in which – as Łucja Siedlik wrote in Chopin Courier – he ‘wove the filigree textures from the several melodic layers.’
