The upcoming edition of the 54th National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition will be held at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, from November 29 to December 6, 2026. The Competition Jury will consist of outstanding pianists and pedagogues.
The competition has three stages. The first two are solo recitals, in the final stage the pianists will perform a piano concerto selected from among those indicated in the regulations, accompanied by the orchestra.
Detailed program:
Stage I
– Johann Sebastian Bach, Prelude and Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier I or II
or two selected sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti
– Four virtuoso etudes, including two by Fryderyk Chopin
– Any additional piece or pieces
Total time: 30–35 minutes
Stage II
A recital, the program of which has to include works by Fryderyk Chopin (with a total duration of no less than 20 minutes). The recital program may be supplemented with any pieces, provided that no repetitions of pieces performed in stage I are permitted.
Total time: 55–60 minutes
