We present to you a new publication from the Fryderyk Chopin Institute: Konkurs Chopinowski. Krótka historia / The Chopin Competition. A Brief History. Richly illustrated with archival photographs from the Institute’s collection, the book concisely and elegantly presents nearly 100 years of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. It includes not only information about all the Competition’s laureates to date, but also interesting statistics, insightful descriptions of each edition, taking into account the social and historical context, and carefully selected anecdotes and quotes from reviews about the event.
Prepared for both the current edition of the Competition and the celebration of its centenary in 1927, this publication, with texts by Ada Arendt, Marcin Bogucki, Kornelia Sobczak, and Kamila Stępień-Kutera, attracts attention with its energetic graphic design, conceived by Grzegorz Laszuk.
The book can be purchased at the NIFC stand at the Warsaw Philharmonic (until the end of the 19th Competition) and in the Institute’s online store.
