The inaugural conference of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition will be held at the Royal Castle today at 5.00 p.m. It will open with a letter from the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and speeches by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Marta Cienkowska, the chairman of the jury, Garrick Ohlsson, and the director of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute and at once competition director, Artur Szklener. Aldona Machnowska-Góra, the Vice Mayor of Warsaw, as well as representatives of media partners – TVP Kultura and Polish Radio 2 – and the event's patrons, will also speak.
All participants of this year's edition will be present in the audience. An important moment of the conference will be the drawing of a letter – participants with surnames beginning with this letter will be the first to perform in the first stage of the auditions.
