“The Tuners” continues its international festival journey

The documentary “The Tuners”, directed by Paweł Chorzępa, continues its successful international festival run. In the coming weeks, the film will be screened at the DC/DOX Documentary Film Festival in Washington, D.C., the Norwegian Short Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest, and New Zealand’s Doc Edge Festival.

The Tuners tells the story of the unsung heroes of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2021. Offering a rare glimpse behind the scenes of one of the world’s most prestigious music competitions, the film follows a group of master piano tuners whose expertise, experience, and extraordinary hearing shape the sound of the instruments chosen by the competitors. The documentary reveals a fascinating world usually hidden from public view.

The film has already attracted considerable international attention and received several awards at major film festivals, confirming the universal appeal of its story. More than a film about music and craftsmanship, The Tuners is a reflection on the pursuit of excellence—a value that has been at the heart of the Chopin Competition for generations.

The Fryderyk Chopin Institute is a partner of the project. The film was co-produced by the Polish Film Institute, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, and the Mazovia Warsaw Film Fund. International festival sales are handled by KFF Sales.
