12/01/2026

Yehuda Prokopowicz, awarded the prestigious Polish Radio Prize for the best performance of mazurkas by the jury of the 19th Chopin Competition, won the Polityka Readers Passport plebiscite.

The finals of the 33rd edition of the Polityka Passports – one of the most prestigious cultural awards in Poland – took place on Sunday, January 11, at the Kora Olga Sipowicz Studio of Polish Television. Passports are awarded in eight categories, and for the past three years, readers of the weekly, which boasts a 69-year history, have also chosen their winner from among the nominees.

Open, talkative, joyful, and exceptionally talented, Prokopowicz won the hearts of the audience at the October auditions. The prize for the best performance of mazurkas is the oldest of the Competition’s statutory prizes, awarded continuously since its first edition in 1927.
